The Kobujutsu (and kobudo) are inseparable from the history of karate. Unfortunately, in many styles Kobujutsu taught any more, it became a secondary sport. Practicing with Bo, tuifa, Sai, etc. extends and supports the understanding of karate. In the 1960s it was practiced in the Honbu-Dojo also Kobujutsu. Initiators were probably the Kodokan-foundation members Shinei Kyan and Jokei Kushi, both masters of the Kobujutsu. However the Kobujutsu (Kobudo) was pursued only as "a hobby", it never became an integrative component of the Matsubayashi-Ryu. Today will pursue in the Matsubayashi-Dojo the Kobujutsu, mostly Yamanni-Ryu or RyuKyu-Kobudo provided.
